Walter STRACK (born 1936). - Lot 291
Walter STRACK (born 1936). Signal. Acrylic on canvas signed on the back, titled and dated 1966. 100 x 81 cm. Reuse of a canvas by the artist. (scratches under the acrylic). Note: Walter Strack is a Swiss artist born in Zurich, one of the metropolises of abstract art in the 20th century. He met many artists there, in particular Max Bill who oriented him towards Concrete Art. In the early 1960s, the artistic climate in Paris was strongly influenced by English and American Pop Art. The advertising images of Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist, Tom Wesselman mark the young Strack recently arrived in the French capital: the sensual forms of the female bodies, in their advertising colors, are however traced with ordering obliques coming from geometrical abstract artists. Expert : Frédérick CHANOIS.
