[CALLOT JACQUES (1592-1635) and ANTONIO TEMPESTA (1555-1630), POMPE FUNEBRE DE LA REINE D'ESPAGNE] 23 copper engravings (of 26) 6 signed by Tempesta and 17 by Callot, signed in the plate or not, 19th century reprints, large margins, prints taken from Essequie della sacra cattolica e real maesta di Margherita d'Avstria, regina di Spagna, celebrate dal serenissimo don Cosimo II Gran duca di Toscana IIII, Descritte da Giovanni Altoviti. In Firenze, Nella stamperia di Bartoloméo Sermatelli e fratelli. 1612 (ca. 130 x 180 mm, 310 x 460 mm with margins), some minor marginal spotting or staining. of a set of about 500 prints of various sizes from the 16th to the 19th century, coming from the Touraine descent of the collection of Jean-Joseph CARLIER (1794-1874), historian and writer, continued by his son Louis CARLIER (1846-1921), journalist close to the Saint-Simonian movement, and his grandson Pierre CARLIER (1877-1923), former consul general in Usbuk (Turkey). This collection, started and formed mainly in the early and mid-19th century, includes five prints from the MARIETTE collection, initialled and dated on the back in pen and ink by Pierre II MARIETTE (1634-1716). These last ones come most probably from the MARIETTE sale of 1775. Some lots have been joined with the handwritten documents concerning them by Jean-Joseph CARLIER. The description has been as precise as possible, but does not exclude small defects, visible on the photos. The prints are almost all copper engravings, etchings or burins, and unless otherwise stated, are fixed by glue dots on 19th century strong paper and are sold as is. The dimensions are taken at the bowl unless otherwise stated.
