BRUSSELS, 16th century. - Lot 268
BRUSSELS, 16th century. Fragment of a tapestry woven in wool and silk (wool warp, wool and silk weft) depicting a secondary scene in the upper left part of a tapestry entitled "The Arrival of the General to the Camp", part of the tapestries that make up the Fructus Belli hanging, woven in Brussels, around 1550 for Frederico and Ferrante Gonzaga. The characters are busy preparing the fodder for the horses that are coming back from the battlefield or are about to go there. As for the border surrounding the fragment, it is in fact an internal border, or counter-border, which is firmly attached to the fragment on the left side and is attached to the other three sides. 168 x 84 cm. (small accidents, wear and restorations) Very interesting document, mounted on a frame. Expert : Nicole de PAZZIS-CHEVALIER
