19th century French school, after Hyacinthe RIGAUD (1659-1743). Portrait of Claude Louis Hector, Duc de Villars. Oil on canvas with a handwritten label in ink on the reverse stating "Portrait de Louis Hector Maréchal Duc de Villars. Chevalier des ordres du Roi et de la Toison D'Or, fait Maréchal Général en 1733". 147 x 113.5 cm. (original canvas, minor accidents, missing parts and restorations). Provenance: Collection of Count René de CURTIS, Poitiers. Note: taken from the painting by Hyacinthe RIGAUD (1659-1743) in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Marseille.
