France, Revolution (1789-1795). Dragons' saber Model 1784, revolutionary variant circa 1790, without scabbard. Mounting in cast brass, flat cap with short tail, lanyard hole missing. The main guard limb is curved, the secondary limb has four fleurons and is welded at four points, the fleur-de-lys replaced by a columnar shaft alluding to antiquity. The beak of the guard plate is stamped with the Klingenthal cockerel. There is a 5 mm diameter hole on the edge of the guard plate (?). Strung wooden spindle sheathed in brass filigree basane (later), the lower ring later. Stained, flat-backed gray steel blade with traces of oxidation and old welding on the heel, unmarked and unstamped (missing). (Saber restored in the past, the basane and watermark later, fairly good condition). 114.5 cm (Blade 97.5 cm).
