France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Gendarme's helmet model 1912 by the manufacturer "Franck et Fils à Aubervilliers". Brass shell stamped with the manufacturer's markings "B. Franck et Fils à Aubervilliers" and size "56" on the back. Gorgon head crest surmounted by a black horsehair brush. Scale chinstraps with lion's head rosettes. Inner cap in black waxed leather with wolf's teeth. Complete. Worn. (Missing a crest fixing screw, later and modern crest internal fixing screws and nuts. Good condition).
