France, late 19th century Large precision crossbow signed "COUDOUX E St AMAND M. D. L.". Long fruitwood crossbow ending in a heavy turned steel pommel. Forged steel bow with string. All fittings in forged steel and brass. Stecher double trigger under scroll trigger guard, diopter sighting system and rear sight. The arbrier bears a copper plate engraved "COUDOUX E St AMAND M. D. L.". It comes with a manual cranequin. A 19th century forged steel arrowhead is included (minor wear and tear, good condition). Total length: 146 cm - Bow width: 75 cm. Arrowhead length: 21.5 cm.
