Balzac,] 1827. 2 vol. in-8, [4]-LII-470p & [4]-555p. Third edition, 1000 copies printed. Wife of the Minister of the Interior, Roland de La Platrière, muse of the Girondins, Madame Roland (1754-1793) was one of the strongest personalities of the Revolution. During the five months of detention before her execution, she wrote her memoirs, an exceptional source for the history of the Revolution between 1789 and 1793. Green half calf with corners, ornate smooth spine, 2 title-pieces, partially trimmed. Some rare, pale freckling, upper jaw split at head. (Tranchida, 92).
