Étienne ECZET. - Lot 17
Étienne ECZET.
Arabesque.
Charcoal on paper signed lower left, 2024.
21 x 28.5 cm.
Note: Étienne ECZET is an artist with an original, composite training, nourished both by a family culture steeped in art history and heritage, and by training at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, open to contemporary art experiments. He also studied drawing with Charles Auffret, a technically and personally demanding course in the style of a master, heir to the tradition of the great French statuaries.
Passionate about African sculpture (an article he co-wrote on the subject won the Musée du Quai Branly publications prize) and Oriental painting, particularly Chinese, Étienne Eczet has developed a subtle, personal body of work, combining tradition and contemporaneity, solid cultural roots and openness to the world (Artmajeur.com).
Etienne Eczet's drawings of ballerinas were created "on the spot" during a ballet class with Magali Guerry, a former soloist with the Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse, to fully appreciate support, extension, bodies moving in space, balance effects and more.
