Chased and gilded bronze Astronomy clock decorated with female figures dressed in antique style leaning against a post surmounted by a celestial globe. The circular white enameled dial shows the hours in Roman numerals. The spandrels feature quivers with ribbon bows and reclining sphinxes. The rectangular base is decorated with a frieze of putti engaged in astronomical activities. Resting on four claw feet. With key and stamp. Early 19th century. 52 x 45 x 17.5 cm. (missing balance wheel, bent compass point, patina wear).
