Chased and gilded bronze "Astronomie" clock decorated with Urania, the Muse of Astronomy, standing at a post on which are arranged an armillary sphere, a square, a ruler, books and a laurel wreath. On the left, an astronomical telescope on a stand. The circular dial is white enamelled with Roman numeral hours, surrounded by a frieze of flowers and surmounted by a bookcase. The rectangular base is decorated with an antique-style frieze depicting astronomy, and stands on four small bell-shaped feet. With gong and pendulum. Restoration period. 41 x 28 x 11 cm. (key missing, gilding worn, enamel chips on dial holes, needs cleaning).
