DRAN (born 1980). - Lot 14
DRAN (born 1980). Little Soldier. Print on heavy paper, signed on the back Tapette. Limited edition, 2016. Published during the "Petite Tapette" Quai de Seine pop-up store. 18 x 18 cm. Note: The artist DRAN was born in Toulouse in 1980. His love of art came to him when he was still very young, and he decided to join the Beaux-Arts. But unable to identify with the spirit of the school and feeling constantly out of step, this free-spirited artist eventually fled and found fulfillment in street art, with the DMV team. His artistic universe is halfway between gentleness and provocation, between violence and humor. His characters confront the harshness and absurdity of the world around them. DRAN's eye examines and analyzes contemporary society through a critical lens. Recurring themes such as the environment, consumerism, politics and religion are dissected in his creations. He uses a variety of techniques and media, including illustrations, drawings, stencils, lithographs, paintings, silkscreens and photographs. His works are famous for being used on commercially available cardboard. Behind his deceptively simple and naive universe, he caricatures the human condition and political excesses. He expresses himself in the form of black humor in all its forms. Quote from Dran: "The children in my drawings don't have my face, but the way they play, the way they dream away, is just like me.
