Laurent GOURBEAU (XX-XXIth). - Lot 37

Laurent GOURBEAU (XX-XXIth). Ottoman nesting box. Oil on canvas. 100 x 72 cm. Comment by the artist: As a child, dazzled and fascinated, I fell in love with the great masters, trying to understand the subjugating mysteries in contact with my father, toiling for hours on end to try to understand and reach what moved me so. I learned. On my own. Thanks to the writings of Dali and the recipes of the great painters. I owe them everything, and in my work, I try to perpetuate a tradition by using this or that technique borrowed from a painter. My work is above all the work of a craftsman. And it's above all the words of my predecessors that flow through me when I draw or paint. All mixed with a punk rock, romantic and surreal spirit.
