Nazanin POUYANDEY (Iranian, b. 1981). - Lot 52
Nazanin POUYANDEY (Iranian, b. 1981). Siren. Framed serigraph numbered 1/20 and dated 2016. 30 x 38 cm. Note: Nazanin Pouyandeh left Iran for France in 1999, a few months after the assassination of her father by the Iranian political police. In Paris, she studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, in the studio of Dutch artist Pat Andrea, who convinced her to transpose her collage practice into painting. Whether mental landscapes or portraits of our times, her works reveal a world that is both familiar and dreamlike, frozen out of time, "a kind of shifted, manipulated realism" that plays on the strange and unsettling.
