Butterfield-type engraved brass rectangular pocket sundial, chased with three hour divisions, with pivoting, height-adjustable gnomon decorated with bird and compass. The reverse side bears the names and latitudes of twenty cities in France and Europe. Signed CHAPOTOT in Paris. 18th century. 3 x 6.4 x 5.6 cm. (white traces of cleaning product).
