France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Gendarme's helmet, model 1912, made by "B.FRANCK & SES FILS AUBERVILLIERS". Brass shell and nickel silver trim. The visor and neck cover are edged with a nickel silver snap ring, and the underside is green lacquered. The bomb is stamped with the manufacturer's markings "B. Franck et Fils à Aubervilliers" and size "56" and stamped "A" on the back. Gorgon head crest topped by a black horsehair brush. Scale chinstraps with lion's head rosettes. Inner headpiece in black waxed basane with wolf's teeth. Complete. Worn. It comes with a scarlet rooster feather plume, without olive. Complete. Worn. (Wear and minor wear, inner cap detached from helmet shell. Good condition).
