Set of unsigned handwritten letters, probably attributed to - Lot 111
Set of unsigned handwritten letters, probably attributed to Breguet, talking about a military counter, of which we know that Breguet was one of the first to develop the famous "pedometer" presented without success at the National Exhibitions of 1798 and 1806 "this instrument, which has the shape of a large watch, is regulated by a clockwork mechanism. Its use is to determine the different speeds of the troops ... an officer on foot or on horseback can hold this instrument in one hand and vary its movement at will by any number of steps between 60 and 120 in one minute ... the movements of the eccentric needle ..." this instrument, described in these handwritten letters as a "military counter", was of interest to Tsar Alexander I, who ordered eight examples in 1820.
