France, 18th century. 1767 model "briquet" infantry saber from the Manufacture Royale d'Alsace, without scabbard. 18-groove bronze mounting. Single-branch hilt, hallmarked "B" under crown. Slightly curved, gray, flat-backed blade with traces of oxidation and "Manufacture Royale d'Alsace" markings. The heel of the blade is stamped "B" under crown. Engraving near the heel, on one side, of a flaming grenade and the interlaced "L" of Louis, and on the other side, of a flaming grenade and "GRENADIER". 72.5 cm (blade 59 cm). (Wear and accidents, small bumps on blade edges, play between blade tang and mount. As is).
