Great Britain, late 18th century. - Lot 73
Great Britain, late 18th century. Strong Marine flintlock pistol signed "RICHARD LONDON", with bayonet. Cal. 18 mm. Round, slightly blunderbussed, cast brass barrel with beaded muzzle. Cast brass case engraved with "RICHARD" on one side and "LONDON" on the other in oak leaf wreaths. Rear sliding safety locking the hammer. Articulated bayonet with triangular steel blade, held in place by the trigger guard. Steel bayonet and trigger guard with bronze finish. Walnut stock with flat cheeks, inlaid with silver threads. Functional two-notch cocking mechanism. The inside of the barrel has a small amount of grey-green surface oxidation. 30.5 cm (barrel 17 cm). (Wear and minor wear, side ramrod missing, ramrod holder on barrel missing, screws and stone clamp missing, good condition).
