France, Révolution-Directoire (1789-1799). 1767 model "Briquet" Grenadier Infantry saber of revolutionary manufacture, without scabbard. Twenty-one-fluted cast copper-plated brass mounting without half-oreillon, the guard limb stamped with the Klingenthal rooster. Slightly curved, flat-backed blade with a small, stained gray patina and traces of oxidation, stamped "B" under a crown in an oval on one side and "COULAUX" partially legible on the other side. 74 cm (blade 59.5 cm). (Wear and accidents. Fairly good condition).
