France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Set of armor-measuring instruments used at the Manufacture d'Armes de CHATELLERAULT. Nice set of various calipers and graduated rulers for measuring. Presented in a wooden case sheathed in black cloth, the interior mounted in the French style, shaped and padded with horsehair on madder felt. The instruments are marked "BREVETE S.G.D.G." and numbered "521". Attached is a plasticized copy of a Manufacture d'Armes de Châtellerault leaflet "COMMANDE DE CUIRRASSES D'OFFICIER", dated 1910. Size of case: 50 x 42 x 6 cm. (Wear and tear, interior trim moth-eaten in places, outer cloth of case missing, otherwise in fairly good condition).
