France, 2nd Empire (1852-1870). Diploma of Chevalier of the Imperial Order of the Legion of Honor. Attributed to Joseph SAMSON, Maréchal des logis au 9ème régiment de Chasseurs, made at the Palais des Tuileries on March 30, 1864. Engraving by CAMPAN and handwritten notes in pen. Framed under glass with black rods. 37 x 45 cm. (minor wear and tear, slight folding and foxing, fairly good condition).
