[ MENON ] : "La cuisinière bourgeoise, suivie de l'Office à l'usage de tous ceux qui fe même de dépenfes de maifons." Luzarches, ed. Daniel Morcrette, October 20, 1977, reprint of the original 1746 edition, large in-12, bound in full garnet sheepskin with morocco grain, boards decorated with three fillets and tassels in the corners, smooth spine adorned with gilded decoration executed with period irons; gilt lace on the edges and gilt inner lace; gilt edges over marbling; four-color "feuille de chêne" paper endpapers, specially hand-executed by Michel Duval, printed in small numbers on cream-colored laid paper, VII - (1) - 400 - (6) pp., lettering and headbands, preface, table of chapters, table of contents, approbation, errata. Superb facsimile reprint of the original 1746 edition by Gillyn in Paris. On this date, Menon "invented" the "Cuisinière", a character who had always existed but whom nobody knew! She is the "antithesis" of the "Cook", who symbolizes mastery, secrecy, complication and even tyranny! Let's not forget that we're in the century of Louis XV and the great lords of the Ancien Régime. This "bourgeois" cookbook brings recipes, often of great ingenuity, within everyone's reach! Preparation is clearly explained. This is a culinary manual that has been reprinted many times. The copy prepared by Daniel Morcrette is the most successful of his catalog, with its superb binding! This book has become extremely RARE. It is here in superb, almost new condition! Very good, almost new condition.
