A very good work by Joseph Menon, in its original 1750 edition and contemporary binding. Complete with 5 fold-out plates. Menon gives recipes for various sweet and candied preparations (jellies, jams, syrups, ice creams, compotes, dried fruits, sugared almonds, macaroons, ratafias, candies, glazed cheeses, mousses, pralines, cookies, as well as fruit brandies and liqueurs, according to the seasons. His work also contains observations on the science and properties of fruit. This work has become RARE complete with its 5 fold-out plates and in its original binding.
The paper and engravings are in very good condition, with no foxing or soiling; the period binding has been professionally restored, giving the work its charm.
