This bottle comes from an exceptional private collection that includes all 8 exceptional bottles of The Macallan as well as the remarkable bottle of Single Islay 12 Years Old. The Macallan bottles were all presented from every angle to The Macallan parent company. None of these bottles could be certified as authentic by the parent company, which requires the bottle to be opened and the liquid studied, which we refused to do. None of these bottles was declared counterfeit by the parent company after studying multiple photos of each bottle. The Macallan Select Reserve 1946, at 52 years old, is a true rarity. Distilled in 1946, at the height of coal rationing after the Second World War, this whisky was made from peated malt, an unusual feature for Macallan, renowned for its sherry bomb whiskies. It aged for over five decades in the distillery's cellars before being bottled in 1998 for the Select Reserve series. This series, featuring just two vintages (1946 and 1948), is the collection that opened the doors to the world of ultra-prestigious and rare whiskies. This set is a true collector's item. The most recent was sold at auction for €23,000 including costs.
