An exhibition notebook from Galerie Furstenberg, dated May 7, 1954 and hand-numbered 21/50, is included. Note: Dorothea TANNING was an American painter, editor, writer and sculptor. She joined André Breton's Surrealist group in 1942 in New York, where she met and married Max Ernst. Her work was devoted not only to painting, but also to ballet sets, which nourished her plastic language. The Centre Pompidou devoted a retrospective to her work in 1974, followed by an exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2000. Returning to the United States after Max Ernst's death in 1976, she continued to create and write.
