BAOULE, Ivory Coast. - Lot 90
BAOULE, Ivory Coast. Hardwood, dark brown patina. Despite its incomplete state, this male effigy stands out for the hieratic quality of its lines and the evocative power of what it represents, the "blolo bian" husband from the beyond or the "Asie usu" bush genie. Early 20th century. H. 38.5 cm. (accidents and missing pieces). Provenance: Henri COUILLARD collection (1904-1984), Vincennes. Then by descent. Corresponds to number 41 of the estate donation made on 21/12/79.
