Touraine: A very fine collection devoted to the Tours region - Lot 1
Touraine: A very fine collection devoted to the Tours region and Touraine, comprising around 1,100 carefully selected vintage postcards. This rich, varied and homogeneous collection offers a remarkable panorama of local life in the XXᵉ centuries. The section devoted to Touraine and its villages includes numerous animated scenes illustrating rural life and the traditions of Central France: village markets, shops, agricultural scenes, grape harvests, troglodytic dwellings, rural scenes such as the Return of the Reaper, the Banks of the Cher, the Hunt for Hounds or the Dairymaid. Together, they form a living, authentic record of the region's heritage. Particularly interesting cards include Rochecorbon with Père aux oies; Mettray and Colonie de Mettray; Château-Renault with Vieilles maisons du Haut-Pichon; Bléré with Couty Frère and Souvenir du Comice; Voitures à chien in Bourgueil and Vendôme; L'Île-Bouchard with Hôtel du Saumon; La Membrolle; and Vouvray with Doyenne des nourrices. These pieces stand out for the quality of their subjects, their documentary interest and their strong regional roots. The city of Tours is also well represented, with a large collection devoted to urban life and events: shops and storefronts (including the Pichard garage), embroidery and fabric stores, the Fédération des Coopératives, photo cards, magazines and local events. There are many sought-after themes: major summer festivals, public meetings, news items (including the Death of Fritz), summer camps, Institution Saint-Louis, motorcoach excursions, the banks of the Loire, military scenes, fairgrounds, halles, livestock and agricultural machinery fairs, old trades, aviation, railway stations and workshops, gymnastics competitions, racecourses and various aspects of Touraine life. 4 Albums. CPA/CPSM.
