Bord de Mer: A very interesting collection of old postcards devoted to the seaside and coastal life, comprising some 375 items. The collection richly illustrates maritime and seaside life: beach and bathing scenes, fishermen at work, cooking sardines, baiting lines, lively auctions, as well as more picturesque scenes such as the "Langouste d'honneur" or the milkmaid on the beach at Berck. Also included are views of Étretat with fishermen's caloges, Châtelaillon with horse-drawn carriages, salt marshes, departures for the fields and numerous scenes of daily life. The collection also includes urban and regional views: Morlaix (old streets), shoe-makers, shops, weddings, traditional costumes, markets (notably Rennes, Pornichet), as well as Nantes with its racecourses.
