[2 Autograph Letters from Maurice Sailland, known as Curnons - Lot 433
[2 Autograph Letters from Maurice Sailland, known as Curnonsky, 1872–1956]
- Autograph letter signed by Sailland, known as Curnonsky, to Jean Bourgoin, 2 pages, on letterhead of the Académie des Gastronomes—The Founding President, dated from Mélanie’s home in Riec-sur-Bélon, October 10, 1953. Curnonsky discusses his health problems, particularly his strict diet (“the old, infirm prince, now in his eighties and in poor health, is condemned to relative moderation… no more than one sauce per meal, no more Burgundy…”) etc. Tears and creases throughout.
- Autograph letter signed “De tout Cur,” dated November 8, 1953, to Jean Bourgoin, one and a half pages long, with a handwritten, stamped envelope. Curnonsky is expecting the recipient, likely for dinner a few days later. He is anxious about the health of his partner, who has not returned home.
