Paris, Delarue, 1825. In-12, half-basane, IV (a folding frontispiece)-319 pp, spine rubbed, ex-libris stamp from the library of Baron de Damas, period binding. Chateau d'Hautefort library label on spine. After a military career (Minister of War under the Restoration), Baron de Damas returned to France in 1833, and retired to his wife's estate, Château de Hautefort (Dordogne, Périgord Noir). He undertook to write his memoirs, and began his final career dedicated to social works, managing the Hautefort hospice, creating the first local "social security" scheme, and promoting agriculture by introducing an "honor loan", the first rural credit scheme.
