DYSSORD JACQUES [Carlo Rim] - Lot 203
DYSSORD JACQUES [Carlo Rim] Mimes d'Hérondas Paris, 1930, Denoël et Steele, in-8 paperback in slipcase. 2ff.-IV-68pp.-2ff. 19 compositions by Carlo Rim colored in gouache by the Nervet workshop. Edition of 870 copies. This is ONE OF 50 EXEMPLIES ON HOLLAND WITH A FOLLOW-UP OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS, second paper after 20 Japon. The translation by Jacques Dyssord (pseudonym of Édouard Moreau de Bellaing 1880-1952) is above all a reinterpretation of the ancient text: "I therefore formed the project of immersing the Mimes d'Hérondas in their true atmosphere. To this end, I have sought, either in our slang or in our popular language, so rich and flavorful, the equivalent of the expressions and terms used by the characters in Hérondas, without fearing for a moment of falling into a necessary anachronism". Carlo Rim (Jean Marius Richard 1902-1989) started out as a press cartoonist, before moving into the film industry. He was a dialogue writer, screenwriter and director, directing Fernandel and Pauline Carton in L'armoire volante. Monod I-5993
