(circa 1st quarter 1931), ORIGINAL EDITION, in-8, br. with text in blue on pale green background, 46 pp. with "history of the Écoles de Cuisine" by Marthe Distel, the director, table of contents, advertisements in black. A rice-based recipe book known to connoisseurs and bibliophiles alike, published in 1934, but here presented as an Original Edition dating from 1931 and therefore earlier than the 1934 edition erroneously presented as the original. This booklet was first sold at the Exposition Coloniale de Paris in the Pavillon de la Cochinchine, during the exhibition from May 6 to November 15, 1931. This edition was also on sale at "Le Cordon Bleu", 129 Faubourg St-Honoré in Paris from the same date. The title of the edition was "L'art d'accommoder le riz. Petit recueil de recettes pratiques de cuisine, pâtisserie, entremets"! The aim of the book was to raise awareness of rice production in France's Asian colonies. "To enrich Indochina is to enrich France"! The recipes were allegedly written by Henri-Paul Pellaprat, then a teacher at Mlle Marthe Distel's cooking school. Stamped in blue by E. Bonneau on the title page and once part of the Bibliothèque de la ville de Châtellerault (sticker affixed to the bottom of the cover with a storage number and a bic inscription on the back cover). Good paper condition; cover soiled but not missing.
